Housing

According to the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements about 1.1 billion people are living in inadequate housing conditions in urban areas alone.

NLMET has made a contribution to providing simple, appropriate housing for hundreds of families.

Marginalised homogenous groups are especially vulnerable to inadequate provision of basic housing. It is these communities that NLMET seeks to focus its housing provision. In the leper colony in Dahisar, a community of 400 lepers were provided with 10 purpose built homes that were supplied to the community at no cost to the community.

As part of the rehabilitation of the cyclone affected areas 100 houses were built and supplied to the community as well as 5 purpose built community schools.

Our vision is to target disenfranchised communities by meeting their basic need for adequate housing.
