Accordingly to recent statistics there are currently 42 million children living/ working on the streets of India . NLMET currently have 4 homes for orphans and children at risk (children who are abused or under the threat of abuse) in the state of Maharashtra .

All these children's homes provide a safe and nurturing environment, security and education. They are ' houses of hope' which provide the children with a safe refuge, educational prospects and the confidence to fulfil their dreams.
